Feature Showcase: Dynamic Content Module

Slickstream’s Dynamic Content Module (DCM) makes it easy to add engaging content blocks to your pages—without needing to touch your code. It helps keep readers engaged, boosts pageviews, and supports your monetization goals by showing the right content at the right time.

What Is the Dynamic Content Module?

The DCM is a built-in feature from Slickstream that automatically inserts a recommended content block into your posts or pages based on rules you can customize. Think of it like the as-you-type search experience—but instead of opening a full-page panel, the DCM shows results inline, right in the page.

Here’s what it can include:

  • Related content carousels
  • Search prompts
  • Recipe finders

What makes it dynamic?

  • You don’t need to manually update each post.
  • The recommended content adapts based on the page content and reader behavior.

What can you customize?

Each DCM has three parts:

  • The search box
  • A “Show all” link that opens the full search panel
  • Pre-populated results

You can choose to show or hide each of these, depending on what you want to prioritize.

Other ways to customize:

  • Change the placeholder text in the search box
  • Display results in a grid or carousel
  • Choose what shows in the pre-populated results—related content, specific search terms, recent posts, a specific category, or your most popular pages
  • Use more than one DCM on a single page

How It Works

Placement

The DCM is placed using a CSS selector. Most sites insert it at the end of an article, but you can place it before or after any section you choose.

Layouts and themes

DCM layouts are based on Slickstream “Themes.” If you want to adjust the layout or content, the Slickstream support team can help you get set up.

Device support

The DCM can be enabled on both desktop and mobile. But based on performance testing and user experience, our recommendation is to use it on desktop only.
